Brunswick has lots of "hidden delights" and this is surely one of them and an easy ride off of I-95 at Exit 36A and you can ride the Starbuck's Coffee drivethru before you go roam the rather large stretch of this cemetery and its neighboring ones. From slave pioneers to mighty sea captains to just ordinary folk with incredible love for upkeeping and decorum, this area will fascinate true Taphophiles in search of unique statues, beautifully carved headstones and iron work and just little hidden gems of adornment from loved ones and probably tourists. What is most outstanding to me at a glance, is that the families kept the tradition of the colonial "bed" styled vaults that the English borrowed from the Spanish in terms of the style. Its not uncommon to find older version of these in colonial cemeteries but they're not as common to modern cemeteries, which this one is a combo of Colonial, Victorian & Modern. To me it really felt reminiscent of cemeteries in the Parishes of Louisiana. Easy to spend LOTS of time here getting lost and in a good way so treat yourself! Should be known that the address given is an office address and that they physical address is 3301 Newcastle Street.
